Roland Imperial Tobacco’s cigarettes have four basic components: the tobacco rod, the cigarette paper (which surrounds the tobacco rod), the filtration zone, and the filter and tipping (which surround the filtration zone).
Internationally, there are three major tobacco blend styles:
-
Classic Virginia, which contains only flue-cured, Virginia tobaccos. This style of blend is predominantly used in the vast majority of Roland Imperial Tobacco brands.
-
Blended cigarette, which contains a mix of flue-cured, air-cured and oriental tobaccos. Typically, air-cured tobacco is treated with sugars such as molasses or licorice, and the overall blend may also contain added flavours. This is typical of American style cigarettes.
-
Oriental, which can contain up to 100% sun-cured tobaccos.
A certain section of the community preference is for Virginia flue-cured tobaccos. Therefore, Roland
Imperial Tobacco fills its tobacco rods with 100% Virginia flue-cured tobaccos. This includes lamina, stem and expanded tobacco. However, not all Virginia tobacco is identical. Variables affecting the plants include what variety of plant it is as well as how it is harvested and geographic variations (soil, climate, weather, etc.).

Not all cigarettes have the same taste. Tobacco products are offered in numerous brands, each different in look and taste. Like many consumer goods, one of the important differences among the various brands is based on the different recipes – mixing the various grades differently to create products with different tastes. In the accompanying illustration, the different coloured balls represent the different grades.Roland Imperial Tobacco uses a variety of recipes to create different products to meet the vast differences in adult consumer preferences for those who choose to smoke. All of the grades of the lamina portion are carefully blended and cut to ensure consistent smoking characteristics. Cut stem is then added to the lamina portion to produce the final blend. |
